Everyone has the potential to shine and someone who knows all about how to shine is Robyn Dittrich. Despite facing challenges in her childhood and early career, she found ways to shine and “live an extraordinary life”. Our keynote speaker shared some of the lessons she learnt at Sparkle & Shine, our second networking fundraiser on 6 December 2016.
Robyn, who is the APAC Vice President of Sales at S&P Global Platts, highlighted the importance of having a good support network and confidence to succeed. She also inspired guests to give back: “If you are being the best version of yourself you can be, you need to touch as many lives as you can and do things that matter. The reason to shine is to be transformational, whether you touch one life or many.”
She added, “The Dress for Success® programme has the potential to transform women’s lives – supporting women and finding them meaningful work, so they can break the cycle of poverty, shame or illness. The success of these women has ripple effects on families and can have a positive impact on our whole society.”
One woman transformed that night was client Nana. The young mother of three glowed with confidence in her sparkly black dress (kindly donated) and makeover by volunteer Veronica. Nana, who runs a food business in a school canteen, shared that she is currently attending a mentoring programme by Dress for Success® to guide her in achieving financial goals to build a future for her family. She said, “I believe the mentoring and interview programme at Dress for Success® will benefit women who want to shine and be successful.”
Sparkle & Shine was indeed full of moments of inspiration. In addition, guests also had a great time hamming it up at the Adrenalin photo magnet booth and sampling fresh gourmet coffee from Cafe Cafe Global.
Founder Li Kin also launched the Cafe Cafe Corporate Challenge that night – corporate partners were invited to support Dress for Success® Singapore simply by providing less than 0.5 sq metres of space in their office for a Cafe Cafe speciality coffee machine. For every location, Cafe Cafe Global will donate $200 to Dress for Success® Singapore. Learn more about the Cafe Cafe Corporate Challenge here.
Thank you to everyone who joined and supported us at Sparkle & Shine!
