What better way to celebrate than with friends? More than 100 friends and supporters joined us to celebrate our first year of operating Dress for Success® Singapore at our Inaugural Networking Event on 6 September 2016. You made our day!
We’ve made some great strides since opening Dress for Success® Singapore in September 2015. Clients served, referral partners and active volunteers on board with us have all rise. But this event wasn’t just about celebrating our journey. It was also about celebrating our clients’ journeys.
As Founder Pang Li Kin said in her speech, “We want to celebrate each step of their journey. What inspires all of us who work with our clients is their smile when we put them in an outfit that makes them shine; the joy in their voice when they tell us ‘I got the job and you helped me!’ And we don’t give up when they say ‘I didn’t get the job, I want to get more coaching.”
Winnie Kong is one of our clients who shared her journey that night. We first met Winnie at a grooming and makeover workshop in July and were struck by how lively and inquisitive she was. Taking the stage with great confidence, our special guest said, “I would like to encourage others to use Dress for Success® because they have helped me feel more confident in myself and they can help others feel more confident too. With the help I am getting, I am one step closer to my dream of getting a job.”
We applaud Winnie and all our clients for their courage in overcoming disadvantages in their lives; taking the first step towards getting a job, achieving economic independence and building a brighter future for themselves and their families. We are also grateful to our referral partners for their support which enables us to help their beneficiaries get the job they need to become economically independent.
Our Inaugural Networking Event gave guests an opportunity to learn more about Dress for Success® Singapore, network and win in the raffle draw — the top prize was a weekend stay for 2 at Sofitel Bali! The Shoeshine Redemption also offered complimentary shoeshines to guests who donated women’s work shoes that night.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us — volunteers, donors and supporters from AccorHotels, ANZA, Baker & McKenzie, Macquarie and UBS, just to name a few. Special thanks to our venue sponsor AccorHotels & Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay and raffle prize sponsors – Sofitel Bali, Sephora, Elverd Designs, Penfolds, Devotion Beautique, Expat Hair Studio and Luxenity.
