The month of March saw some of us at Image Mission bedecked in silk, sequins and wigs, all in the name of fun(d)!
Dressed as Fairy Godmothers and Cinderellas, our volunteers were taking part in the #Dare2Dress challenge. It was held for the first time this year and open to anyone who dared to dress as their favourite hero/heroine for a day.
Our volunteers showed how a little daring could go a long way towards raising awareness and funds to help disadvantaged women in Singapore overcome barriers to achieving economic independence through the Dress for Success® Singapore programme.
“#Dare2Dress is about stepping out of your comfort zone and demonstrating the courage it takes for these women to overcome disadvantages in their lives when stepping out into the working world,” explained Pang Li Kin, Image Mission founder.
The Image Mission team did their dare on 8 March 2016 and celebrated International Women’s Day by visiting two charities to bring cheer to beneficiaries and spread the message that they too can make their dreams come true by believing in themselves and never giving up.
Game for the challenge, our supporters and corporate partners also got bold and organised their own campaigns. Netsuite Singapore staff bravely showed up for work as Wonder Woman, Wolverine and other superheroes, while UBS and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer organised in-house events to raise funds for our cause. Elsewhere across the island, the Flying Fans performed a graceful tai-chi routine at the Botanic Gardens. Just to name a few. Together, we raised more than $10,000!
So, what shall we dress up as next year?
